Frontier Service Representatives Assemble in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / The meeting of the Task Group of the Frontier Protection Service of the International Conference on Frontier Issues started in Baku.

The role of the Frontier Protection Service in border protection of the country, main responsibilities, as well as directions of further functioning of the Task Group issues will be discussed at the two day meeting.

The deputy chief of the State Frontier Service of Azerbaijan, Farhad Tagizadeh, said that the document would be developed, which would include recommendations by the Task Group for the International Conference on border issues.

The experts from frontier services of 12 countries and agencies on security of borders of the European Union FRONTEX will attend at the first meeting.

The responsibilities of the Task Group include to increase security in water borders, study of legal bases of border defence, exchange of experience and information, prevent illegal emigrants, illegal drugs, gangs, armaments and many other issues.

International Conference on frontier issues has been functioning since 1993.
