Plenary Session Held in Supreme Court of Azerbaijan on 2007 Summary

Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 January / corr. Trend E. Huseynli/ A plenary session was held in the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan on the summary of 2007. In the session presided over by Ramiz Rzayev, the head of the Supreme Court, it was stated that the number of the cases examined by the jury of the Court has decreased compared to 2006. In the Court's board on civil cases the same figure made up 4.8%, on the board on economic issues - 14.1%, on criminal cases - 7.8%, on military issues - 16%. 3916 criminal cases were examined in the Supreme Court in 2006, while the same figure made up 3639 in 2007. it means that there was 7% drop in the criminal cases examined by the Supreme Court.

The number of the appeals made to the Supreme Court in 2007 decreased by 5.5% compared to 2006. If 19.753 appeals were made to the Supreme Court in 2006, the same figure made up 18.663 in 2007.

Islam Aliyev, the judge of the Supreme Court was appointed the judge of the board on civil cases, Saadat Bektashi, the head of the Appeal Court of Baku and Ikram Shirinov, the head of the Court of Nasimi district of Baku were appointed members of the board of experts of the lawyers in the penary session.
