Georgia, Tbilisi, 9 September/ Trend , corr N. Kirtskhalia/ Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, son of Georgia's first president, who was sent to imprisonment before trial for 2 months with charges of espionage and an attempt of coup d'eta has gone on hunger strike. His lawyer Keti Bekauri said his client resorted to this as a protest as he does not accept the charges against him.

Gamsakhurdia was arrested last Sunday in Tbilisi airport while coming returning home from Moscow through Baku.

Bakauri said Gamsakhurdia rejects these charges. "He believes the charges against him are false," lawyer said.

The defense has already protested against the decision of city court and appeal court will examine imprisonment before trial on 10 September.
