Georgian Parliament Adopts Law on Amnesty

Georgia, Tbilisi, 22 November / corr Trend N.Kirtzkhalia / The Georgian parliament adopted law on Amnesty in the third reading. Ninety-one MPs voted for this decision.

Amnesty will concern 12,081 people. Sentence was made in respect to 3,025 people, 874 to be convicted, 5,976 conditionally convicted and 2,233 under investigation.

The bill, containing up 60 chapters, will be handed over to the Georgian president for signing.

The law will come into force from the day of publication.

Amnesty was dedicated to the day of Saint Giorgi, to be celebrated on 23 November in Georgia.
