Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Jan. 22 /corr. Trend E.Hasanov / Based on the principles of positive neutrality, the foreign policy of Turkmenistan is "an important factor of strengthening peace and security in the region," Alexei Tikhomirov, Senior Economic Officer for United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, said today in Ashkhabad.
He shared this opinion with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdymuhamedov. The meeting also focused on the energy partnership, local media reported. Firstly this regards the practical realization of UN Resolution on the Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy and Its Role in Ensuring the Sustainable Development and International Cooperation, which was adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan at 63rd session of the UN General Assembly. Tikhomirov noted that the United Nations member nations were prepared for joint activity in this regard.
"Possessing huge reserves of hydrocarbon raw material, Turkmenistan is ready to place its energy potential on the service to humanity" said Berdymuhamedov.
