Conference of Palestinians in Europe aims to help the people of the Gaza Strip following the Israeli attacks and to prove the right of Palestinian refugees to return to the historic land, said Majid al-Zir, who represents the Palestine Return Centre at the conference. The center protects the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their lands.
"The Palestinians of Europe will declare right of Palestinian refugees to return to their land at the conference," al-Zir told Trend over telephone from Milan. "We will send marine caravan via Italy and Egypt to lift blockade of Gaza on Sunday."
Seventh Conference of Palestinians in Europe will begin on 61st anniversary of the Palestinian-Israeli war in the Italian city of Milan on May 10, the website Al Jazeera reported.
The conference will be attended by the Congress of Palestinians in Europe, the center of the return of Palestinian Al-Awda and the Palestinian society of Italy.
The First European Conference of Palestinians was held in London in 2003. The conference adopted a program on return of two million Palestinian refugees in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Milan conference is expected to adopt strategic decisions on assistance to the Palestinian people one of which is establishing of new European-Palestinian organizations to lift Gaza blockade, al-Zir, one of the organizers of the conference, said.
"The establishment of such organizations helps us support the people of Gaza," he said. "For example, union of Palestinian doctors in Europe worked in hospitals in Gaza during the Israeli attacks."
Israeli military operations against Hamas members claimed lives of 1,400 Palestinians in December and January.
The participation of Luisa Morgantini, European Parliament Vice-President and Member of British Parliament and Italian politicians in the conference in Milan helps Palestinians to cooperate with the EU on the issue of assisting the people of Gaza, al-Zir said.
The Palestinians, with European citizenship have held two events with representatives of the European Parliament in Brussels to realize legal rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their lands, he added.
The last conference was held in the Danish capital of Copenhagen in 2008, called "60 Years: the Return is Becoming Closer."
