OSCE to educate Turkmen officials about European court practice

A delegation of senior officials from the Supreme Court, Prosecutor General's Office, Ministry of Justice, Education Ministry and Institute of State and Law of Turkmenistan headed for Bordo to get familiar with the activities of the National School of Judging (Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature), the OSCE press release said.

The visit is financed by France.

The Turkmen delegation will learn the best experience on training and raising skills of judges and prosecutors based on French model in the OSCE area. The four-day visit is organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat in collaboration with French embassy and National School of Judging.

"The visit, which enables to discuss institutional systems of professional training of judges and prosecutors, is an important step in terms of support to Turkmenistan to further improve system of raising skills of judicial agencies," the press release quoted ambassador Arsim Zekoli, OSCE Center head, as saying.

"Thanks to the visit to France, one more step will be taken in rule of law cooperation with Turkmenistan. The visit will enable specialists from France and Turkmenistan to strengthen ties and contribute to fruitful exchange of methods and experience of teachers, judges and prosecutors," French ambassador to Turkmenistan Christian Leshevri said.

The delegation will discuss activities and academic plan of the National School of Judging and recruitment procedures and ways of education. The visit program also includes meetings with the Institute of Judging Studies (law department) in Bordo. The visit has been organized as a part of the long-term cooperation program between OSCE and Turkmenistan which aims to contribute to the rule of law and performing functions.
