Member of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Ganira Pashayeva held meeting with the representatives of the foreign associations in Azerbaijan House in Strasburg on June 23. Members of Azerbaijani diaspora, Azerbaijani students in Strasbug and media representatives attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on women's role in intercultural dialogue.
During her remarks, Azerbaijani Member of Parliament gave comprehensive information about Azerbaijan, its culture, literature, Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its consequences. She also spoke about importance of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, women's active role in this process and Azerbaijan's possible great role in establishing dialogue between Europe and Asia.
She said women play an important role in modern world, in European area which also includes Azerbaijan, promoting intercultural dialogue, establishing peace and sustainable development and eliminating all forms of discrimination and role of intercultural dialogue in this regard and Azerbaijan's active involvement with this process.
She noted efforts by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to develop intercultural and inter-religious dialogue and organization of international conferences on cultural diversity and inter-religious dialogue. She told guests about conference on Promoting Women's Role in Intercultural Dialogue initiated by the foundation in Baku.
"Azerbaijani people respect other religions, cultures, their historical and cultural monuments. This is indicator of high tolerance of Azerbaijani people," Pashayeva said.
