Qatar is interested in implementing energy projects with Azerbaijan, Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani said during a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
The emir stressed the importance of opening direct flights between the two countries to develop ties. The sides also stressed the importance of establishing an inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation.
Mammadyarov paid official visit to the country Jan. 11-12. He thanked Qatari leadership for its fair position in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its support on the international arena.
"Qatar supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and its position in resolving the conflict. Qatar thinks that resolving the conflict can have positive results for the entire region and Armenia," the emir said.
During his visit to Qatar, the Azerbaijani FM met with Qatari officials. An agreement was signed to annul the visa regime for individuals with diplomatic and official passports.
