On March 30, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the National flag square to see ongoing construction work, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
The foundation stone for the square was laid in accordance with a presidential decree of 2007. The President has visited the construction site, located near the Naval Base, several times.
The square will occupy a total area of 35,000 square meters. The national flag to be installed here will have a 162 meter-high flagpole, and will measure 70 meters high x 35 meters wide and weight 350 kilos.
The President gave recommendations to carry out the work in accordance with modern standards.
