Azerbaijani opposition party prepares for congress
Azerbaijan, Baku, April 12 / Trend A. Huseynbala /
Conferences are held to prepare for the next tenth congress of Azerbaijani opposition parties in the district organizations of the party.
"Conferences were held in eight district organizations to prepare for the congress. The structure of local organizations has been reformed," Secretary of propaganda and media in Azerbaijani National Independence Party (NIPA) Ali Orujov told Trend on Monday.
Orujev said that representatives of regional organizations that will participate in the congress were determined during the conference.
NIPA was established in 1992. This is the first party in Azerbaijan which passed the state registration. After resignation in late 2004 from the post of party chairman Etibar Mammadov, the party split. Some NIPA members left the party because of the discontent directed against the head the party Ali Aliyev.
Currently, Mammadov is deputy chairman of the International Democratic Union.
