Transport ministry officials: Neither Britain nor Germany refused refueling Iranian aircraft

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 6 /Trend, T.Konyayeva/

Neither Britain nor Germany refused refueling an Iranian aircraft in their territories, officials of the transport ministries of both countries said.

"At present Her Majesty's Government is not aware of any occasions when fuel has been refused in the UK," an official of British Department of Transport Sameena Rizwi wrote in an e-mail to Trend with reference to a Government spokesperson .

July 6, ISNA news agency reported that Iranian planes in Britain, Germany and the UAE were not being refuelled, quoting an official of the Iranian Airlines Union. The ban on refuelling was to coincide with the latest round of sanctions against Iran issued by the UN Security Council, the report said.

German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development also refuted the news.

"This information does not correspond to reality," representative of the press office of the Ministry Ingo Strater told Trend by telephone. "Refueling Iranian aircraft in Germany is not prohibited either under the current UN Security Council resolution, or in accordance with the embargo imposed by the European Union."

Tehran on Tuesday denied local press reports of a refueling ban on Iranian planes at airports in Britain, Germany and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) because of the new sanction against the Islamic Republic.
