Topical issues of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed at a meeting held at the Foreign Ministry.

"The sides stressed the extremely confidential nature of relations between Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia, based on principles of mutual respect, equal and mutually beneficial cooperation."

Separate topic of conversation was the development of close relations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, development of interaction program.

The report cites the Arab minister's opinion "on the positive role of Turkmenistan, acting as the recognized peacemaking center, reliable outpost of peace and stability in Central Asia."

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov's official visit to Saudi Arabia in 2007 and his meeting with Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud gave the dynamics to the interstate relations.

As a result of the high level talks the General Cooperation Agreement was signed between Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia, which allows opening "a wide range of new directions of partnership", the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
