Azerbaijani ambassador presents credentials to Latvian president

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Latvia has officially assumed his duties.

Elman Zeynalov has presented his credentials to Latvian President Valdis Zatlers on Tuesday November 9, said in the press release from the Azerbaijani embassy to Latvia.

Traditionally friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation exists between Azerbaijan and Latvia, Zeynalov said at the meeting. There is fertile ground for further development and strengthening of bilateral ties between the countries, ambassador stressed.

President Zatlers noted the presence of a wide range of opportunities for cooperation between the two countries and stressed the importance of creating new projects to take full advantage of these opportunities. President Zatlers wished Zeynalov success in carrying out diplomatic activities in Latvia.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree October 11 appointing Zeynalov Elman as an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Latvia, AzerTAj state news agency reported.

Upon another decree by the President, Zeynalov Elman was recalled from his post as an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Bulgaria.
