Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today received Iraqi Minister of Trade Safa al-Din Al-Safi and his accompanying delegation, the AzerTaj state news agency reported.
The Head of State underscored Iraq-Azerbaijan political relations are well developed.
The countries successfully cooperate within international organizations and support each other. The Head of State expressed confidence this mutual support would be continued in the future. Azerbaijani leader pointed out there are ample opportunities to develop economic relations, underlining the need to effectively use these opportunities. President Ilham Aliyev noted Iraqi Trade Minister`s visit would play an important role in taking economic ties forward.
He expressed assurance that the minister`s meetings here would bring good results.
The Iraqi Minister conveyed the greetings of country`s President Jalal Talabani and Premier Nouri al-Maliki to President Ilham Aliyev. He expressed hope that his current visit would contribute to expanding economic ties between the two countries.
The Head of State asked Al-Safi to pass on his greetings to Iraqi President and Premier.
