Georgian Supreme Court Chairman Konstantin Kublashvili has regarded the introduction of juries' institution as one of the most important events of 2010.
"2010 was important for the reformed court. A special event was the introduction of jury trial, which came into effect on Oct.1 and the first trial will be held in 2011," Kublashvili said at a press conference today.
He regarded reforms of the new model of Higher School of Justice and modernization of the judiciary and courts union as the important events of the year.
Kublashvili also noted the results of public survey, whereby the level of public confidence in the court has reached 66 percent.
Regarding 2011, he said that not only will people see a jury for the first time, much attention will also be given to expedite the judicial proceedings.
