Azerbaijani MPs made proposals to combat corruption at a parliamentary meeting on Friday.

MP Fazil Mustafa noted at the meeting that the anti-corruption efforts would be effective in case of the adoption of a relevant reform of the program character.

He said that representatives of the opposition coalition in Parliament prepared a package of proposals on this issue.

Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov stressed that these proposals should be considered in the committees.

MP Igbal Aghazadeh made a proposal to involve representatives of socio-political organizations to joint work with the Commission against Corruption. He also offered to create a new structure for activities in this direction.

The parliamentary meeting's agenda also included the approval of the intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in various fields signed between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as additions and amendments to the Code of Administrative Violations, additions and amendments to the law "On State Duty" and the Customs Code draft.

"Azerbaijani President made an invaluable contribution to the deepening of reforms in the country, and we will carry out relevant activity in this direction," Asadov said at the meeting.

The Parliamentary Legal Policy and State Building Committee Chairman MP Ali Huseynov said that purpose of ongoing work to combat corruption is Azerbaijan's desire to join the ranks of the developed countries of the world. According to him, all branches of government authorities are represented in the Azerbaijani Commission for Fighting Corruption.
