Relations between the U.S. and Azerbaijan are at the level of strategic partnership, deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, MP Mubariz Gurbanli said in an interview with the NAP's website.
"Some opposition newspapers write that the visit of the congressmen to Azerbaijan was made to put U.S. pressure on Azerbaijan. These articles contain an impossible dream, which does not reflect reality. All of these are the misinformation which was prepared at the "kitchen" of opposition. Azerbaijan is an independent state, and no country can put pressure on it. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan pursues such a clear policy that there is no room left for opportunities of other countries to exert pressure in one or another form," he added.
He said Azerbaijan is the leading country in the region and without Azerbaijan, it is impossible to implement political and economic projects in the South Caucasus. All states must take into account the position of Azerbaijan in the region and implement its policy according to this.
