Baku, Azerbaijan, July 21
By Orkhan Guluzade – Trend:
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismayil Alper Coskun has said that Azerbaijan will always be an ally of Turkey.
“Azerbaijan will always be Turkey’s ally. We believe in this,” said the ambassador.
He made the remarks at a press conference in Baku commenting on the activities of Turkish leadership to address the consequences of the military coup attempt in the country.
Coskun pointed out that terrorists pose a threat both to Turkey and to the countries where they live.
“We share information with Azerbaijan on this matter and we believe that Azerbaijan will also take necessary measures,” said the diplomat.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a three-month state of emergency in Turkey July 20 in accordance with the Article 120 of the Constitution in order to eliminate all factors of the terrorist organization that earlier attempted to stage a military coup in the country.
On July 15 evening, Turkish authorities said a military coup attempt took place in the country.
Meanwhile, a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them.
However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed.
More than 200 people have been killed as a result of the coup attempt.
