BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. Member of Russia’s State Duma (parliament) Mikhail Delyagin has been included in the international most wanted list, Trend reports with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office has conducted the investigation due to the recent statements made by Member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy of the State Duma Mikhail Delyagin in the media, which contradict the principles of cooperation between the two countries.
Delyagin openly called for launching an aggressive war against Azerbaijan on Russia 1 TV channel, made a provocative statement about the use of tactical nuclear weapons to destroy Azerbaijan’s energy infrastructure and oil industry, conducted mass survey on this topic online on March 28, 2022.
The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General instructed the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office to conduct the preliminary investigation on March 29, 2022 upon Article 101.2 (public calls for launching a war of aggression), Article 214.2.3 (terrorism threat by using firearms and items which are used as weapons), Article 283.2.1 and Article 283.2.2 (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
Moreover, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General also instructed to initiate a criminal case upon the indicated articles.
After collecting enough documents testifying to Delyagin’s guilt, he was named as a defendant upon the specified articles of the Criminal Code on March 29, 2022. Delyagin was put on Interpol’s most wanted list upon a court decision. A preventive measure - detention was chosen.
Moreover, the appeals were sent to the corresponding structures of several partner countries to hand over the accused to Azerbaijan for bringing charges and immediately detain while entering these countries.
The investigative measures are being intensively taken in connection with the criminal case.
The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office states that legal measures will be taken in connection with any provocative activity directed against the national interests, security and territorial integrity of the country.
