“There are, probably, too many working problems between Azerbaijan and Russia and a definite of them will be resolved at a meeting of the Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission,” Peter Burdikin, the Russian charge d’affaires in Baku, told Trend.

According to Burdikin, the exact date of the meeting of an intergovernmental commission is still to be defined, while it is to sit by late autumn.

“The decrees, issued by the Presidents of two countries, on doubling the goods turnover and increasing it to $1bn must be implemented in 2005,” the diplomat noted. He did not exclude the probability of discussing an increase of prices of energy resources.

“I have no idea what proposals the Azerbaijani and Russian delegations will put forward in the gathering. However, the issues will be resolved,” Burdikin said noting a question on an increase of prices was always a sword of Damocles’ for Azerbaijan and Russia.

Regarding the rise of prices of Russian gas, the diplomat said that it was an idea and is currently under consideration.

Russia and Azerbaijan are eager to enter the World Trade Organization (WTO) and trade at world prices. It’s normal when you trade at market terms,” the Russian diplomat stressed.
