An issue on financing the project on support to upgrade of two outdated missile fuel reservoirs of mГ©lange type will be resolved in the second half of the year, Ulvi Akhundlu, the spokesman for Baku Office of the OSCE told Trend.
Akhundlu reminded that on 24-28 October 2005 a expert of group of OSCE visited Baku with respect to carry out technical and financial support to upgrade of the reservoirs. They defined possible ways for export of reservoirs with regard to further reconstruction, as well as revealing the necessary technical and financial parameters of the project.
The concrete work under the project will start in the second half of 2006. MГ©lange is extremely instable and toxic fuel element which assumes a potential threat to environment. The project is implemented by the Secretariat of the organization in close cooperation with the Baku office of the OSCE.
NATO is also designing a separate project envisaging full liquidation of both reservoirs in Azerbaijan in the near future.
