Head of OSCE mission arrives in Baku

Ambassador Girt Arens, the head of the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission on re-run parliamentary elections arrived in Baku on Monday morning (24 April). During the day the Ambassador will hold consultations with the leadership of the Baku Office of the OSCE, Trend reports.

The mission will be comprised of 10-15 people.

In October 2005 Arens led an international observation mission during the monitoring of the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. The mission will be directly subordinated to the Central office of the OSCE/ODIHR based in Warsaw.

The issue on the development of a report on the results of the forthcoming monitoring remains open. The last word is to be said by Arens.

The re-run parliamentary elections be held in Azerbaijan in 10 constituencies are scheduled for 13 May 2006.
