Azerbaijan's attitude toward the Stability Pact for South Caucasus is critical, and we can not speak about any cooperation until the conflicts will be resolved, Sammad Seyyidov, Chief of the Azerbaijani Permanent Parliamentary Delegation to PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe.
Mr. Seyidov said that the document will be discussed during the sitting of the PACE Permanent Committee to be held on November 17. Adrian Severin (Romania), PACE's Rapporteur on Political Issues is expected to make a speech on this issue. Mr. Seyyidov will rebuke from the Azerbaijan side.
He said that the document envisaged the development of cooperation in South Caucasus, and it is significance for the whole region. However, both Azerbaijan and Georgia consider that this cooperation will become possible only after the lingering conflicts will be resolved. And that is the principle of the two countries, said Mr. Seyidov. He also said that the Armenian side will not agree with this stance.
Notably, the sitting of the Permanent Committee of PACE is expected to be held on November 16. During the meeting, the resolution on maintenance of stability in South Caucasus, declaration on struggle against violence toward women, issues connected with Kazakhstan ties with the Council of Europe, as well as the existing situation in the country, the rights of minorities living in Latvia, the importance of transparency in trading arms, and many other issues are expected to be considered.
