Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Alizadeh / MP Samad Seyyidov, the Head of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Delegation to Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has stated that the visit of Rene Van Der Linden, the PACE President to the South Caucasus will take place due to the end of his term in office. The PACE President will visit all the Council of Europe member-countries.
"Rene Van Der Linden's term in office ends in January 2008. He has already been in many European Council member-countries. After several days he will visit Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. This is a good possibility for us to demonstrate our position with the president," Seyyidov said.
The Council of Europe's 'Ago Group' also will visit Azerbaijan. Alongside with Azerbaijan 'Ago Group' will pay a visit to Georgia and Armenia. "All three countries are under PACE's monitoring. The 'Ago Group' will study the level of duties taken by these counties before the Council of Europe," Seyyidov added.
'Ago Group' studies the situation on the Council of Europe's Cabinet of Ministers' line. The 'Ago Group' visit should be assessed normally. Both visits will positively affect relations between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe," MP said.
Andrea Herkel and Tony Lloyd, PACE's co-Rapporteurs on Azerbaijan, will also visit Azerbaijan. The exact date has not been determined yet. Lord Rassel Jonston, the Chairman of PACE's Subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh, will pay a visit to Azerbaijan in the autumn.
