The number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan will increase by at least 10 percent this year, the Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev told the media today.
"Every year, the number of tourists visiting our country usually increases by 10-15 percent," the minister said.
He added that the introduction of an electronic visa system will increase the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan.
"It is necessary to finalize specific technical issues in the introductions of an electronic visa system," he said. "I think we will be fully prepared for the summer season. Azerbaijani tourist companies are very interested in joining this project. I believe that this will have a positive impact on the number of tourists."
At present, Azerbaijani tourists prefer to vacation domestically.
The minister said that this is connected with the improvement of regional infrastructure.
"Besides Baku, Gabala and "Shahdag", winter and summer tourist complex attract tourists in Azerbaijan," he said.
The minister expressed hope that more tourists will visit the complex next year.
