Azerbaijan is ensuring the freedom of speech and media, and the country is experiencing a boom in the social media, director general of Azerbaijani state-run telegraph agency (AzerTag) Aslan Aslanov said Oct. 3.
He made the remarks at a roundtable meeting titled "Media Transformation in the Digital Age: New Development Trends", held as part of the 4th Baku International Humanitarian Forum.
The roundtable meeting consists of three panels, which focus on the following topics: "Problems of journalism in the 21st century amid intercultural dialogue and the dialogue of civilizations", "The social media boom: a new target for journalism in information societies", "Place and role of media in covering the humanitarian problems of modern science in the context of globalization".
Aslanov said that today the electronic media have already begun replacing the traditional media outlets.
The AzerTag director general said the traditional media outlets should not oppose the innovations, but rather support them.
