BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. Possibilities of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Vietnam in the field of combating mine threats have been discussed, Trend reports via ANAMA.
The delegation headed by the Chairman of the Board of the Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Demining, Vugar Suleymanov, visited the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in order to expand cooperation and exchange experience with international structures specializing in combating mine threats and unexploded ordnance.
Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with officials of the Vietnamese Demining Center and the Quang Tri Demining Center.
To note, Vietnam is one of the countries that has faced mine and other threats of explosive remnants of war and has many years of experience in combating them.
The study of international experience in the field of mine action, the expansion of partnerships in this area, and the introduction of the resulting innovations into demining activities are of particular importance to the agency.
During the meetings, there was an exchange of best practices in this field, the establishment and development of close cooperative relations, as well as the exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
The ANAMA delegation raised the problem of existing mines and other explosive remnants of war in the country and informed about the activities carried out to eliminate this problem, the methodologies applied, and the humanitarian demining exercises carried out.
The next meetings of the ANAMA delegation in this direction will continue within the framework of the visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
