BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 7. The Pomegranate Festival was held at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, initiated by the Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture, with organizational and technical assistance from the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, Trend reports via Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with Diaspora.
The feast was graced by the presence of Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs of Belarus, Aleksandr Rumak, along with members of the Congress of Azerbaijani Communities of Belarus. The gathering also saw representatives from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Belarus, the UN Office in Belarus, the Fund for Culture and Education of Turkmenistan, UNICEF in Belarus, and a host of university students.
The aim of putting this event together is to bolster the bonds between the Azerbaijani and Belarusian folks in the realms of education, science, and culture, while also raising a toast to the 110th anniversary of the university. The representatives of the Azerbaijani community pulled back the curtain on our culture, shedding light on its rich tapestry.
“Our friendship is a stabilizing factor in the country,” said Aleksandr Rumak, Belarus' Commissioner for Religions and Nationalities.
The Rector of the university Alexander Zhuk noted that the educational institution closely cooperates with Azerbaijan in the field of science, education, and culture; the Azerbaijani Language Center was opened here, and the Belarusian Language and Culture Center was established at Baku Slavic University in 2014.
At the festive event, the university's creative team performed a concert program, demonstrating national dances and performing poems and songs in both Azerbaijani and Belarusian languages. An exhibition of works depicting the pomegranate created by prominent Azerbaijani artist Togrul Narimanbekov was also organized at the event.
The pomegranate festival was covered in the local press:
