State Program Necessary to Prevent Migration Azerbaijanis From Georgia to Azerbaijan: Azerbaijani Parliamentarian

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / Migration of Azerbaijanis from Georgia to Azerbaijan reached dangerous scale. A special state program is necessary to prevent the process, MP Nasib Nasibli, the member of the permanent commission of the Parliament in International Relations and Inter Parliamentary Ties and member of MP group of Musavat, said in Baku on 23 August.

"If Azerbaijan is to strengthen its positions in the South Caucasus, the process should begin from Borchali, the thick Azerbaijani populated territory. Borchali is a strategic region of the South Caucasus, all communication lines are linked with Borchali," MP said.

The State program will envisage ways of resolving problems regarding education, job hunting of Georgian Azerbaijanis and many other issues.

Musavat Party visited Georgia to familiarize with life conditions of Azerbaijanis residing in the region.

Nasibli considers that visit to Georgia have positive and negative affects. Georgian Azerbaijanis understood that they have not been forgotten in their motherland, and it is a positive affect.

The statement of Nazim Ibrahimoglu, the chairman of the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Residing Abroad, regarding closing Azerbaijani-speaking schools is a negative affect.

MP said that Artur Rasizadeh, the Azerbaijani prime-minister, proposed the similar statement during the meeting with governor of Borchali in Baku.

The next visit of Azerbaijani parliamentarians to Georgia is scheduled for September.
