Turkish ministry unveils data on cargo transportation of Iran through local ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. The volume of cargo transportation from Iran to the ports of Turkey amounted to 48,519 tons from January through April 2022, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, cargo transshipped through Turkish ports by ships flying the Iranian flag amounted to 3,518 tons from January through April, and by Iranian ships flying the flags of other countries – 45,001 tons.

The ministry noted that, transit cargo from Iran through the ports of Turkey to other countries was not sent from January through April 2022.

"Turkish ports received 32.06 million tons of cargo in April 2022. Some 2.09 million tons of these cargoes were transshipped by ships under the Turkish flag, and 29.9 million tons were transshipped by ships under a foreign flag,” ministry noted.

“A total of 7.1 million tons of transit cargo were transshipped through Turkish ports in April 2022," the ministry added.

Ministry noted that Turkish ports received 130.8 million tons of cargo from January through April 2022. Some 6.05 million tons of these cargoes were handled by Turkish-flagged ships, and 121.8 million tons by foreign-flagged ships. Some 28 million tons of transit cargo were transshipped through Turkish ports from January through April.

Turkish ports received 386.3 million tons of cargo last year.
