Azerbaijan's foreign trade balance remains positive - State Customs Committee

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover increased by slightly over $2 billion (12.73 percent) from January through April 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, from $15.8 billion to $17.8 billion, the State Customs Committee told Trend.

According to the committee, out of the total foreign trade turnover, exports accounted for $12.58 billion, which is $761.59 million (6.44 percent) more than the same period last year. The share of exports in the foreign trade turnover totaled 70.37 percent against 74.53 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports in the first four months of this year increased by $1.25 billion (31.12 percent), from $4 billion to about $5.29 billion. The share of imports in foreign trade turnover amounted to 29.62 percent against 25.47 percent a year earlier.

As a result, in the reporting period, the balance of foreign trade turnover, remaining positive, decreased by more than $495.89 million (6.37 percent) on an annual basis, to $7.28 billion against $7.7 billion in the same period of the previous year.

In 2022, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover totaled $52.6 billion, growing by $18.7 billion (55.36 percent) on an annual basis.
