BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. The Turkish port of Iskenderun received 19.2 million tons of cargo from January through May 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, 576,900 tons of cargo were handled by ships under the flag of Türkiye through the Iskenderun port, while ships under the flags of other countries – 18.6 million tons.
"The Iskenderun port handled 1.3 million tons of transit cargo from January through May 2023," the ministry said.
The ports of Türkiye received 35.4 million tons of cargo in May 2023.
During this period, cargo transportation to domestic ports on ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 2.5 million tons, while cargo transportation of ships under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 32.9 million tons.
Moreover, 5.4 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Turkish ports in May 2023.
According to the ministry, Turkish ports received 160.7 million tons of cargo from January through May 2023.
Meanwhile, cargo acceptance by ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 11.4 million tons from January through May 2023. While by ships under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 149.3 million tons.
A total of 28.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the Turkish ports from January through May 2023.
