BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 7. In total, 100 km of highways will be put into operation in the Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), during the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2022), Director General of the Road and Urban Development Department of Ardabil Province Mahbub Heydari said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

The director general noted that 50 km of the highways will be commissioned by the end of 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022).

Heydari added that if the needed funds are provided, 300 more kilometers of highways will be built in the province within 5 years. There is a need for a total of 750 km long highways in Ardabil Province.

“Over the next 10 days, 13 kilometers of the Ardabil-Meshgin Shahr highway will be put into operation,” he said.

According to Heydari, the province also needs 10 trillion rials (about $238 million) to build 60 kilometers of the Parsabad-Mesgin Shahr highway.

At present, there are a total of 6,374 km of roads in Iran's Ardabil Province.
