( dpa ) - Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday on lingering concerns over the US economy.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average fell 84.67 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 13,507.8.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also down 8.78 points, or 0.65 per cent, at 1,337.53.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 106.25-30 yen, down from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 106.61-64 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.4861-66 dollars, up from Thursday's quote of 1.4857-59 dollars, and at 157.95-158.00 yen, down from 158.41-45 yen.
