Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 August / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / National Bank of Pakistan (NBP Bank) Baku branch plans to enter into the Azerbaijani card market through processing of Millikart centre, Sohail Ahmad, General Secretary of the bank, said.
Initially, bank plans to issue local cards. "I will be useless to join international payment system, as we able to use the cards of the head office of NBP Bank," Ahmad said.
Two processing centres have been operating in Azerbaijan -Azericard, which is founded by the International Bank of Azerbaijan, and Millikart, which is owned by 18 banks. As for the results of the first half of 2008, the number of issued cards reached 3,124mln. The card turnover is 828mln.
The Baku branch of NBP Bank has been operating in Azerbaijan since July 2005. At present, branch's stocks are AZN 12mln, credit portfolio - AZN 0.2mln and deposit portfolio - 1.4mln. Bank's joint capital is formed on the rate of AZN 10.420mln and authorized capital is AZN 10mln.
National Bank of Pakistan is established with 75% participation of the Pakistan Government in 1949. At present, NBP Bank has 17 foreign branches.
On 29 August, the official currency rate is 0,8134 AZN/USD.
