A rise in consumer prices was observed in Azerbaijan January, Head of Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Elman Rustamov said.
Based on State Statistics Committee information, in January the inflation rate was 1.8 percent.
"The price rise is observed due to a growing demand during the holidays, but in summer the inflation rate starts to decline," he said. "Today, inflation does not exceed the level we expected."
Prices of groceries and non-food products rose with 0.6 percent in January, and tariffs for services rose with 0.1 percent.
The base consumer price index in January, calculated apart from goods and services subject to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables), and prices regulated by the state was 100.3 percent compared to the previous month.
