The Turkish foreign debt amounted to $95.2 billion in April 2012 compared to $90.2 billion in March, the Central Bank of Turkey said on Monday.
Turkey's foreign borrowings, borrowed from banks, increased by 4.1 percent compared to the previous month, reaching $25.2 billion. Some $8.3 billion of this debt were attracted in foreign currency, $28.8 billion - in the lira.
Debt to the private sector increased by four percent in April, reaching $3.2 billion.
Debt for imports declined by 2.5 percent in April, reaching $20.6 billion. The external debt of Turkey to financial organization increased by 20.1 percent to $59.7 billion in April 2012, the debt to non-financial institutions increased by 4.1 percent, reaching $35.5 billion.
