Tender announced for judicial complex construction in Baku

Azerbaijani Justice Ministry announced a tender for construction of administrative buildings of the Sabunchu District Court and Baku Administrative and Economic Court N2 (Judicial Complex) within the World Bank (WB) project "Modernization of the justice system", the official press reported on Saturday.

Tender participation fee is 250 manat.

The tender proposals should be sent no later than 15:00, Oct.3, to the Justice Ministry of Azerbaijan at the address: Baku, Inshaatchilar Prospect 1, fifth floor, room 505. Contact: Phone - (012) 510 85 59/60, fax: (012)510 76 72, email: [email protected]

Opening of tender proposals will begin at 15:01, Oct.3. Construction period is 16.5 months.

Tender proposals must be accompanied by a bank guarantee worth 350,000 manat or the same amount in another freely convertible currency.

The WB Board of Directors approved the judicial system modernization project in Azerbaijan on June 29 2006. The total cost of the first project is 35.6 million. WB loans account for $21.6 million. The Japan Special Fund awarded a grant worth $3 million, while the share of the Azerbaijani government has provided $11 million. The project is designed for five years.

The WB's share in the project was allocated by the International Development Association (IDA). The IDA conditions are standard- a 35-year term with a 10-year beneficial period and 0.75 percent annual rate. Upon the expiration of the 10-year grace period, there would begin loan payments on 1.25 percent and from 2026 to 2041 years - 2.5 percent.
