Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 3 / Trend A. Akhundov /

The European Union is discussing the projects for financing in 2013 with the Azerbaijani government, EU ambassador to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia told Trend.

"At present, we are considering various projects that we can finance," he said. "We want to work in coordination with the Azerbaijani government and civil society."

He said that the parties failed to achieve progress on the project to strengthen the potential of governing the state funds in Azerbaijan in 2012.

"We wanted to provide funding of 20 million euro for a large project, however, we failed to reach an agreement with the government," Kobia said.

The ambassador expressed his confidence in the continued growth of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the EU in the future.

"At present, Azerbaijan conducts more than 60 percent of foreign trade operations with the EU countries," he said. "Italy is the largest importer of Azerbaijani products, in particular oil. We hope that this trend will continue. It is advantageous for Azerbaijan to have such a stable partner as the EU. It is advantageous for us to purchase products offered by Azerbaijan. This cooperation is mutually beneficial for both parties."
