Some 139 new national standards received for state registration in Azerbaijan in 2012

In 2012, 139 new national standards were received for the state registration in Azerbaijan compared to 41 for the same period last year, the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan said on Frday.

In 2012, 139 new national standards were received for the state registration in Azerbaijan compared to 41 for the same period last year, the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan said on Frday.

"Today, there are 674 national standards and 20,878 interstate standards in Azerbaijan. In addition the Committee considered 18 draft standards for construction of roads, pedestrian crossings and bridges during the year and made appropriate conclusion on them," the statement said.

In 2012, Azerbaijan established international cooperation in the field of standardization with Israel, Lithuania, Greece, Egypt, Macedonia, and now is working on signing agreements on bilateral cooperation with these countries. This year, the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan signed a memorandum on bilateral cooperation with the relevant agencies of Turkey, Russia, Albania, Serbia, Romania, Moldova, Czech Republic, Poland, Turkmenistan, Jordan, Tajikistan, Iran, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus.

"We are working on signing a memorandum on bilateral cooperation with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)," the report says.
