The total capital of Kazakhstan’s second tier banks grew by 15 percent in 2016 and exceeded 2.8 trillion tenge as of 2016, Finprom.kz analytical service reported.
Meanwhile banking sector’s asset growth slowed in 2016 and reached 13 percent in 2016 compared to 25 percent in 2015.
The ratio of capital of Kazakh banks to its total assets remained at 11 percent in 2016 as it was in 2015. This is lower than the ratio of equity capital to assets in 2013 and 2014.
Fortebank has the highest ratio of capital to its assets among the top 10 largest banks in Kazakhstan – 14 percent.
Halyk bank has the second biggest capital to assets ratio among the biggest Kazakh banks – 13 percent.
Kaspi bank with capital to assets ratio of 11 percent ranks third among biggest Kazakh banks.
