National Organization of Turkmenistan for Bar Codes taking part in introduction of digital economy

The National Organization of Turkmenistan for Bar Codes (TNOBC) has joined the implementation of the Digital Economy Concept for 2019-2025 in the country, Trend reports referring to the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET).

A general meeting devoted to the results of the activities of the union over the past 5 years was held by the UIET. The importance of the activities of the non-profit voluntary structure in the development of international trade partnership, expanding the export opportunities of local producers, and introducing innovations, was noted during the meeting.

The structure of TNOBC includes 1,395 state and private institutions, including enterprises from the UIET.

The TNOBC is a member of the GS1 AISBL, an nonprofit organization for developing and maintaining global standards.

The activities of GS1 Turkmenistan laboratory are aimed at the introduction of a world-wide multi-industry system of identification, bar coding and electronic communications based on GS1 international standards.

More than 100 GS1 national organizations are currently registered worldwide, and standards are being developed for more than 1 million companies. 25 industries in 150 countries use the GS1 standards. More than 5 billion barcodes are scanned around the world every day.
