TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 6. Uzbekistan and South Korean SEJIN UZ enterprise discussed the project implementation of alternative power generation of 16 MW from landfill gases generated at Akhangaran solid waste landfill, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, the issue was reviewed at a meeting with the head of SEJIN UZ.

During the meeting, the sides reached an agreement on putting into operation the Akhangaran solid waste landfill.

In particular, both sides signed a bilateral agreement on the commissioning of the landfill and existing infrastructure facilities, buildings, and structures.

Meanwhile, the initiative for the project was first put forward within the second Tashkent International Investment Forum (IIF-2023) in April 2023.

During the forum, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Sejin G&E signed an investment agreement worth $55 million for a project on alternative energy production.

South Korea selected Uzbekistan as one of its partner countries to implement demonstration pilot projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions earlier this year.
