Iran discloses amount of foreign currency provided for imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. About $5.68 billion worth of foreign currency was imported into Iran from March 20 through May 5, Deputy Director of Iran's Foreign Exchange and Gold Exchange Center Ali Tarzali said, Trend reports.

According to him, during the mentioned period, $1.23 billion was secured in foreign currency for importing necessities. Thus, $1.06 billion was secured for wheat, oilseeds, and animal feed, and $168 million for medicines and raw materials for the production of medicines and medical supplies.

Tarzali stated that foreign exchange was provided for imports of trade products worth $3.3 billion during the mentioned period. Therefore, $623 million was granted for the import of automobiles and vehicles, $237 million for the import of mining equipment, $202 million for the import of manufacturing equipment, and $226 million for the import of textiles and clothing.

Tarzali noted that in return for services and exports amounting to $145 million, $1 billion in foreign currency was provided for imports.

The exchange rate announced by the CBI to banks and exchange offices is called the SANA system. According to this system, one euro costs 479,828 rials, and $1 costs 445,887 rials.

NIMA is a scheme for selling a percentage of the foreign money earned from exports.

The price of one euro in this system amounted to 448,019 rials, and the price of $1 was 416,328 rials.

On the black market, $1 is worth about 603,000–606,000 rials, while one euro is about 650,000–653,000 rials.
