Major logistics center to be launched in Kazakhstan

The construction of the largest logistics center of Kazakhstan is nearing the end in Karaganda city, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the akimat (administrative center) of the region.

The construction of a retail and distributive center will allow to decrease prices on fruit and vegetables in Karaganda as well as in other regions of the country.

The first stage of project’s realization will create some 500 new work places and this number will increase to 5,000 in the future.

Currently, the construction work is 90 percent finished. The warehouses, space for retail and wholesale trade, as well as covered pavilions which can fit up to 164 trucks have been already constructed. Technological area of new type takes up a territory of 60 ha. Every necessary mean of communication is already connected to the center, including railway system.

Furthermore, customs area will be operating within the area of the center starting from August of 2019 for the convenience of suppliers. The electronic trading platform will also be created for farmers and customers. The creation of the platform is overseen by ‘Digital Kazakhstan’ program.
