Machinery, equipment occupy almost half of import’s share in Uzbekistan

In January-June 2019, the volume of imports in Uzbekistan amounted to $11.24 billion (the growth rate was 32 percent), Trend reports with reference to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The main share in its structure is occupied by machinery and equipment, including parts and components (increase from 39.2 percent to 43.6 percent), chemical products and products from it (13.3 percent), as well as food products (decrease from 9.9 percent to 8.2 percent).

Analysis of the dynamics of imports of goods and services in January-June 2019 revealed that, compared to the corresponding period last year, the volume of imports of goods increased by $2.66 billion and amounted to $10.15 billion. Imports of services reached $1.08 billion, or 9.7 percent of total imports, and decreased by 2.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

In the first half of 2019, goods and services from 144 countries were imported into the country. in the total volume of imports, seven major partner countries (China, Russia, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Germany and the United States) have a share of 69.1 percent, which is more than $7.77 billion.

In January-June 2019, the volume of imports of construction materials amounted to $627 million and increased, compared to the same period of 2018, by 15.6 percent. The share of imports of building materials in the total volume reached 5.6 percent

In the structure of imports of building materials, the main share is occupied by wood and wood products (45.7 percent), cement (14.0 percent), glass and wood products (4.5 percent), and asbestos (2.2 percent).
