Iran Ministry of Industry to halt production of old-fashioned cars

The Ministry of Industry's proposal to halt production of some of old-fashioned cars will be presented to the Supreme Council of Standards next week, the deputy head of the National Standards Organization said.

“We have prepared a report on the current status of the automotive industry that will be presented at next week's meeting of the Supreme Council of Standards,” Vahid Marandi Moghadam said, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

"There are a number of issues that will be addressed by the Supreme Council of Standards," he added.

According to him, in particular, the Supreme Council of Standards will make a decision to stop producing old-fashioned cars.

He went on to say that automakers shall meet 85 standards set up for car makers till the beginning of January. “Currently, the cars are produced in accordance with approved standards,” he added.
