Exports from Georgia to the EU countries amounted to $685.2 million from January through October 2019 and constituted 22.6 percent of total exports, Trend reports with reference to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).
This is 14.2 percent higher compared to the same period of 2018.
Meanwhile, the imports from the EU amounted to $1.8 billion (decrease by 9 percent lower) comprising 25.8 percent in total imports.
The external trade turnover of Georgia with the EU countries amounted to $2.5 billion, showing a 3.8 percent decrease compared to the corresponding indicator of the previous year.
The EU countries accounted for 28 percent of Georgia's trade deficit.
From January through October 2019, the exports to the CIS countries stood at $1.6 billion (22.5 percent higher compared to the same period 2018) and reached 53.1 percent of total exports, while the imports equaled $1.9 billion (decrease of 12.5 percent) with 26.3 percent in total import.
The trade turnover with the CIS countries totaled $3.5 billion (growth by 0.6 percent).
The CIS countries accounted for 7.4 percent of Georgia's overall trade deficit in the corresponding period.
The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $10.3 billion from January through October 2019, 0.5 percent higher year-on-year. The exports equaled $3 billion (growth by 10.4 percent), while the imports stood at $7.3 billion (decrease by 3.1 percent).
