With the spread of coronavirus in Iran, the production of disinfectants has increased 7-8 times, said Iran’s Association of Medical, Dental, Laboratory and Pharmaceutical Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters'member Mehdi Shahmoradi, Trend reports citing ISNA.
According to Shahmoradi, 60-75% of disinfectants are made from alcohol.
Shahmoradi added that 400,000-500,000 liters of disinfectants is produced daily based on alcohol.
The official said that Iran could produce between 200,000 and 300,000 liters of alcohol daily.
Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education has confirmed that 2,522 people have been infected with new coronavirus, 92 have died and 552 have been recovered.
The country continues to apply strict measures to contain the further spread. Reportedly, the disease was brought to Iran by a businessman from Iran's Qom city, who went on a business trip to China, despite official warnings. The man died later from the disease.
